One person was fatally shot as he tried to flag down a Tri-Rail Bus Connection overnight near NW 75th Street and 7th Avenue, police said. Two other people were wounded.

Witnesses told Miami Police bullets rang out from the parking lot of Jumbo's Restaurant at 7501 NW 7th Avenue around midnight.

Three people were hit, including the man who tried to catch the jitney, authorities said.

The driver of the jitney and a passenger on board were struck and rushed to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, police said.

Detective Kevin Ruggiero said it appears the driver of the commuter bus was an innocent bystander. The bus came to a stop four blocks away from the shooting at a gas station at NW 79th Avenue and 7th Avenue, according to police.

The shooting victims have not yet been identified.

The shooter remains at large, officials said.
