Passenger Dies From Tram Fall at Orlando Airport

A passenger who fell from an elevated tram at Orlando International Airport has died.

Airport officials said that the unidentified passenger died after being taken to a hospital Friday.

Bombardier operates the airport's tram system. Airport officials say the tram, which is normally automated, was being run manually during a routine inspection in the early-morning hours.

The only people in the tram at the time were a Bombardier employee and the passenger. The passenger was ejected through the windshield of the tram when it made an unexpected stop and the passenger fell to the ground more than a dozen feet below.

Airport officials say passenger service hasn't been interrupted even through the involved tram is out of service.
