1 Dead, 1 in Critical Condition After Shooting in West Park: BSO

Police are investigating a shooting and suicide in West Park early Saturday morning.

Authorities say they received a call around 2:18 a.m., about a shooting located at 3715 SW 58 Terrace in West Park.

A family ran out of their home early Saturday morning after hearing gunfire, according ot Broward Sheriff's Office. They found their loved one suffering from a gunshot wound and his best friend holding a gun to his head, which he then fired.

The gunman, 33-year-old Henry Zito was pronounced dead in front of the vacant home, where he and his long-time friend and neighbor, Abdiel Morales, often hung out. Morales was found alive but suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue quickly transported him to Memorial Regional, where he was later pronounced dead.

Friends and family say Zito and Morales had been at their hangout all night drinking and talking. The two had a verbal argument, which prompted Zito to walk across the street to grab his gun. He returned and shot Morales before shooting himself, police say.

It is unknown what the argument was about.

The case is still under investigation.
