Police Link Teen Burglars With Cell Phone Theft at Maroone Ford: Report

The boy and girl stole a Samsung Galaxy from the dealership in Fort Lauderdale: Sun Sentinel

Police are now linking the two teens they said burglarized two businesses in Wilton Manors while pretending to sell candy with another theft at Maroone Ford, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

The girl and boy, thought to be between 13 and 16 years old, stole a Samsung Galaxy cell phone on the afternoon of June 8 at the car dealership at 1333 N. Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale, according to police.

Surveillance video shows them at the dealership. They are believed to be the same young thieves who stole electronics in Wilton Manors, Fort Lauderdale Police spokesman Detective Travis Mandell said, the Sun Sentinel reported.

"They looked like presentable children," said Dr. Don Nadel, who remains in shock after the brazen burglars took a $700 laptop from his Wilton Manors dental office last week.

Police said over the weekend that the duo also went into the U.S.A. Auto Care Plus store in Wilton Manors, where the girl stole an iPhone from behind the front desk when it was empty.

"They purport themselves to be selling candy, and a little girl with some pigtails that’s walking into offices. And there’s a second subject with her we believe to be a little bit older," Wilton Manors Police Sgt. Christopher Chadwick said.

Maria Parodi, whose iPhone was stolen, said she thinks the girls looks about 11 years old and the boy 13 or 14.

“Little kids. Little kids committing crime," she said.
