Postal Worker Shot in Biscayne Gardens

The victim later died, police are searching for a suspect

The unemployed U.S. postal worker is accused of criminal mischief in connection with the flag burning episode.

Police are searching for the person who shot a U.S. postal worker Monday afternoon.

Miami-Dade police received calls about shots fired around 2:50 p.m. Monday afternoon at an apartment complex on northwest 4th Avenue and 165th Street. When they arrived, the discovered a male postal worker shot several times.

The suspect -- described as a black male, six feet tall, long dreadlocks, 25-30 years old, wearing all black with a red jacket stole the victim's truck -- then dumped it about two blocks away. He was last seen fleeing the area on foot.

The victim, who two sources claim is 60-year-old Bruce Parton of Pembroke Pines, was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

The U.S. postal service is offering a $25,000 reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. Tips can be called into 1-888-876-5322.
