The Miami Heat have signed Luol Deng to a 2 year, $20 million deal, according to a report by Yahoo! Sports.
With LeBron James exiting Miami to reunite with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Deng will fill the glaring hole for a starting forward.
Deng enjoyed years of success with the Chicago Bulls before a trade sent him to Cleveland during this past season. When he put on a Cavs jersey, the tide turned a bit for Deng and he struggled. At only 29, he should still have more in the tank for his new team however.
There was competition for Deng's services with the Houston Rockets in the mix as well. The Rockets had money to burn after losing out on Chris Bosh. Prior to Bosh re-signing with Miami, the Rockets traded Jeremy Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers to open up payroll room.
Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem are both expected back once the veterans finalize new contracts. The Heat will also need to sign several more players to round out the roster and complete a revamped bench.
