Shots Fired in Miami Gardens, Schools on Lockdown

Several schools were placed on lockdown after reports of multiple shots fired in Miami Gardens Friday.

Carol City High School, Carol City Middle School and Barbara Hawkins Elementary School were all placed on lockdown after the shooting was reported in the 19000 block of Northwest 39th Court.

The shooting happened shortly after 11 a.m. and no injuries were reported, Miami Gardens Police said.

Initial reports were that a home in the area was sprayed with bullets. Police said several spent casings were found on the ground.

No further information was immediately available.

It's the second time this week that Carol City High School has been connected to gun violence, after a shooting was reported outside the school on Wednesday.
