The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for an overdue zodiac boat that was apparently transporting six Cuban migrants from the Dominican Republic to Puerto Rico.

The Coast Guard based in Miami was helping with the search after authorities got several telephone calls from one of the migrants' relatives, who lives in Florida.

The relative told authorities that the boat was transporting three men and three women and hadn't arrived in Puerto Rico after it left the Dominican Republic on Dec. 17.

Rescue crews have been searching waters south of the Dominican Republic and the Mona Passage since Saturday.

If anyone has any information on this case please contact the Coast Guard in San Juan at 787-289-2041.
