A SWAT team found a barricaded subject alive inside a Deerfield Beach apartment as they cleared it Tuesday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

The man is not facing any charges, but is being taken to the hospital to be evaluated under the Baker Act, the BSO said in a statement.

Authorities said earlier that they were received a call at 4:37 p.m. for deputies to check on the welfare of a “despondent man” who lives at 410 Jefferson Drive in the Deer Creek community.

The man was believed to be armed and alone inside his apartment, the BSO said.
