Several School Buses Burglarized in Miami

A suspect was arrested after several school buses were burglarized in Miami early Tuesday.

The incident happened just after 1 a.m. at the private school bus depot at 34th Avenue and Flagler Street.

A neighbor heard the commotion and called 911, and officers were able to take the suspect into custody.

The suspect, 36-year-old Miguel Armando Guerra, was arrested on burglary and criminal mischief charges. He was being held on $15,000 bond Tuesday and it was unknown if he has an attorney.

About 30 buses were in the lot and most were damaged by the suspect, who was targeting the batteries.

Workers were at the scene early Tuesday trying to fix the buses, which transport students to several schools, including Coral Gables High School, Miami High School, Miami Senior High, Kensington Park Elementary, Citrus Grove School, Kinloch Park Elementary, Kinloch Middle School and  Auburndale Elementary.

By 7 a.m., all but three of the buses were repaired and back on the road. Students who attend the schools may be affected by the burglary.

Jorge Balbuena, who is one of the bus owners, said it's the third time the bus batteries have been targeted at the depot.
