Gunman on the run after shooting at Miami Norland High School

A Miami-Dade high school student has been taken to the hospital after being shot in the buttocks, possibly by another student on school campus.

The suspected shooter fled the scene at Miami Norland Senior High School on Tuesday afternoon soon after school was over, school officials said.

Police have not said whether the gunman attends Miami Norland.

The incident occurred about an hour after classes were dismissed, officials said.

The two males were involved in an altercation on one of the ball fields when the suspected shooter pulled out a gun and fired a several shots at the student.

The bullet hit the victim in the backside. The unnamed male was taken to a nearby hospital and his injuries aren't considered life threatening.

The unnamed suspect is still at large.

Miami Norland and nearby Norland Middle School, Norland Elemntary and Norwood Elementary were all placed on lockdown as police searched for the gunman.

The lockdowns have been lifted, but the shooter is still on the loose.
