The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said a 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly punching a pregnant woman and pushing a 2-year-old child who sustained a head injury in the Florida Keys.
Maycol Jacinto Sanchez was charged with child abuse and aggravated battery in which he knew or should have known the victim was pregnant, MCSO said in a statement.
MSCO deputies responded to the incident in Stock Island at about 7 p.m. on Saturday.
MSCO said Sanchez and the woman were having an argument in the bathroom while she bathed the child.
"Another family member got involved. A window was broken and that family member suffered cuts to his arm," MSCO wrote. "Sanchez punched the woman in the back. At some point, witnesses said Sanchez pushed the child."
It's possible the child also sustained a concussion, MSCO said. The woman and child were transported to the hospital.
