Teen Guilty of Raping, Murdering Sister

Teen sentenced to two life terms

It took a jury two hours to convict Ronald Salazar of raping and then murdering his 11-year-old sister in 2005.

Salazar, now 19, was then immediately sentenced to two consecutive life terms for the disturbing act. The teen had argued during the trial that he was temporarily insane when he raped, strangled and then slit the throat of his baby sister with a kitchen knife in the family's Miami home.

Prosecutors argued that Salazar was a troubled teen, but lashed out at his sister to spite his parents, who he hated.

The killing was revenge for leaving the boy in El Salvador with grand parents while the rest of the family traveled to Miami 10 years before finally sending for him.
