$50,000 Bond for Teen Charged in Deadly Crash

19-year-old charged with vehicular homicide in crash that killed elderly woman

The Coral Gables teen who police say killed an elderly grandmother in an early morning crash Sunday was ordered held on $50,000 bond Monday.

Ivanna Villanueva will be under house arrest with an ankle monitor if she posts bond. The 19-year-old is facing vehicular manslaughter charges in the death of 68-year-old Eyder Ayala.

Police say Villanueva was driving recklessly and possibly intoxicated when she struck Ayala's Ford with her Audi in the southbound lanes of LeJeune Road near Majorca Avenue just after 4:30 a.m.

Ayala was killed at the scene. Villanueva wasn't injured, police said.

"Eight days ago we were at my brother's wedding and my mother was dancing," said Ayala's daughter Brenda Sadeek.  "Now we have to go to a funeral and mourn her death."

Police said toxicology tests are pending and Villanueva could face other charges depending on the outcome of the tests. It was unknown whether Villanueva had an attorney.
