The Miami Heat are going to the White House _ again.
They are set to on Tuesday afternoon, when President Barack Obama will commemorate the 2013 NBA championship.
This will be the third visit by the Heat overall and the second consecutive year the team spends time at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Visiting the White House is a tradition for champions in any of the major sports and the players often consider it the biggest and best part of winning a title.
Last year during Miami’s White House visit, LeBron James was quoted as saying "We're in the White House right now," he said. "This is like, hey, mama, I made it.” A man who had captured MVP Awards, an NBA title, and comparisons to the greatest of all-time didn’t think he “made it” until he stepped foot in the White House. That says it all about the honor of this day.
In addition to visiting the White House, the Heat will also spend time at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where they will visit wounded warriors, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
President Obama had this to say during last year’s visit: “One of the things I’m proudest of is that they take their roles as fathers seriously. And for all the young men out there who are looking up to them all the time, for them to see somebody who cares about their kids and is there for them day in and day out, that's a good message to send. It’s a positive message to send, and we’re very proud of them for that.”
