Kids in Stolen Vehicle Found Safe, Parents Won't Face Charges: North Miami Police

The parents of two young children who were inside an SUV that was carjacked outside a laundromat will not face charges, North Miami police confirm.

The children were found safe and reunited with their parents overnight. Police say the father was unloading laundry as the mother stood outside the SUV around 10 p.m. Wednesday when someone jumped into the driver's side and drove off with the vehicle, running over the mother's foot in the process.

Police say the suspect may have been unaware that the 3-year-old and 9-month-old were asleep inside the car.

The suspect ditched the 2011 aqua Toyota RAV4 about eight blocks away from where he stole the car. A search for the suspect is underway.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
