Veterans Day Events, Deals for Military Members Planned Across South Florida

Friday, the nation will take time to remember those who served our country – and across South Florida, cities will honor Veterans Day while several restaurants and businesses will be giving out discounts to veterans.

Some of the cities who will celebrate Veterans Day with events include:

Lauderdale-By-The-Sea will be holding their annual ceremony in front of Town Hall (4501 N. Ocean Drive) starting at 10 AM.

The Village of Pinecrest will honor veterans at their annual commemoration ceremony at the Veterans Wayside Park (11111 Pinecrest Parkway) between 11 AM and 1 PM.

Miami Beach will hold their eighth annual Veterans Day Parade along Ocean Drive starting at 11:11 AM, starting at 6th Street and ending at Flamingo Park with a special ceremony.

In addition, the city of Miami Gardens will honor veterans and their familes with a free Thanksgiving meal Saturday from 12 PM to 3 PM at the Miami Job Corps, located at 3050 NW 183rd Street.

The Florida Panthers, who have made a committment to veterans under the ownership of West Point graduate Vinnie Viola, will offer a discount to current and former military members for Thursday's game against the San Jose Sharks.

Several restaurants will be offering discounts as well. Olive Garden will offer a free entrée to all active duty military and veterans. LongHorn Steakhouse will offer a free appetizer or dessert to anyone showing proof of military service – as well as 10 percent off for anyone who dines with a veteran.

Red Lobster will offer a free appetizer or dessert to anyone with a valid military ID both Thursday and Friday, while Hooters, Applebee's and Bob Evans will also offer free food.

IHOP will be offering free red, white and blue pancakes from 7 AM to 7 PM.
