A flood advisory was issued for northeastern Miami-Dade until 2:15 p.m. About two to three inches of rain were expected in the area.

A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued by the National Weather Service for northeastern Miami-Dade County earlier in the day. The storms were capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, deadly lightning and heavy rainfall.

Areas affected were Key Biscayne, Miami, Little Havana, Coral Gables, Miami International Airport, Miami Springs and the surrounding communities, the NWS said. Anyone in the area should stay indoors and away from windows.
