A significant weather advisory was in effect for southeastern Broward County and northeastern Miami-Dade County until 11:45 a.m. for the development of funnel clouds, the National Weather Service said.

Meanwhile, the South Florida forecast is trending towards rainy weather to return to Friday, sticking around into the weekend.

An upper-level trough, working in tandem with what had been Tropical Storm Chantal’s remnants that linger in Bahamas, will set the stage for increasing shower and thunderstorm coverage for the next few days, especially in the afternoon.

South Florida could experience locally heavy downpours through Saturday in the areas where storms are concentrated, but expect a slight improvement to the forecast pattern by Sunday.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely and highs around 87. It'll be mostly cloudy again on Saturday, with more showers and thunderstorms and highs around 88.

Sunday will be partly sunny with scattered showers and thunderstorms and highs around 90.
