Nearly eight years after her husband was gunned down outside his Miami-Dade home, a woman has been arrested for allegedly hiring a hit man to kill him, police say.
Janet Whisby Barr, 42, was arrested last month on first-degree murder charges in the November 2003 death of Jeffrey Ricardo Barr, police said.
Also charged is the alleged gun man, 32-year-old Javon Quentin Robinson. Both pleaded not guilty and are being held without bond.
Police say Jeffrey Barr was killed for his insurance money, after a cousin of Janet Barr who was jailed in Escambia County told police she'd first asked him to kill her husband.
It's unknown how much insurance money was collected.
