Wipe Out: Ron Jon Founder Busted for DUI

73-year-old surf impresario arrested with open can of Four Loko in car

The elderly founder of the Ron Jon Surf Shop empire was arrested for DUI in Florida after cops spotted his car weaving and found an open can of Four Loko when he was stopped.

Ron DiMenna, 73, was stopped in his pickup truck on Merritt Island last Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Police said the senior citizen surfer had trouble walking when he stepped out of his truck. When cops searched the truck, they found a half-full can of the popular alcoholic energy drink.

DiMenna was booked into the Brevard County Jail and later released on $5,500 bail.

It's not the first time DiMenna has faced DUI charges. In 2005 he pleaded guilty to reckless driving. And in 2007, he was convicted of DUI and lost his license for six months.

The Ron Jon Surf Shop was started by DiMenna in New Jersey in 1959, and now has several stores throughout Florida, including one in Fort Lauderdale and a shop at Miami International Airport.
