Woman Walking Dog Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver in NW Miami-Dade

Loved ones seeking answers in death of Yenitza Maria Roques

Loved ones are asking for the public's help in finding a driver responsible for a hit-and-run in northwest Miami-Dade that left a woman who was walking her dog dead.

Yenitza Maria Roques was crossing the street with her dog in the area of Northwest 67th Avenue and 173rd Street Thursday when she was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Surveillance footage shows the vehicle making a U-turn as it hits Roques then flees the scene. Seconds later, another car stops and the driver appears to get out of the vehicle to render aid.

Family members believe more than one car may have struck Roques. Traffic homicide investigators haven't released a description of the vehicle involved.

Loved ones are devastated, saying they can't believe Roques was killed.

"Please find that person, whoever did this to her. And to this other car that ran over her, it's like double, double whammy as I say," boyfriend Ronnie Chensang said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
