Workers Find Human Skull at Florida Construction Site

Police say workers found a partial human skull while digging at a construction site for a new cardiac catheterization lab at Florida Hospital DeLand.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports a hospital maintenance supervisor told police the remains found Monday afternoon could be from an old cemetery from the 1920s where people with unknown identities were buried.

Police Sgt. Chris Estes says the remains were taken to the medical examiner's office. He says the site is not considered a crime scene and foul play is not suspected.

The $3.5 million lab is being built on the north side of the 165-bed hospital.
