A 12-year-old boy was shot to death in Quincy early Saturday morning.
Police identified the victim as Rayshone D. Humphrey Jr. He was killed at about 1 a.m.
Police Chief Rob Copley told the Quincy Herald-Whig that the boy's death is being investigated as a homicide and that investigators "do not believe this to be a random crime."
The victim's brother told the newspaper that Humphrey was waiting at a friend's house for his mother to pick him up when the shooting occurred.
The newspaper reports that the victim was a seventh-grader at Quincy Junior High School.
