The Florida Panthers are dropping their cheerleading team after nine seasons, the team announced Wednesday.

"The #FlaPanthers thank the Lady Panthers for nine years of service to our team and community," the team said in a Twitter post.

The Lady Panthers have been a staple during games at the BB&T Center and throughout the South Florida community, making public appearances and releasing an annual calendar.

"Moving forward our game presentation will feature a skating only team," the Panthers tweeted.
