Knowshon Moreno Returns To Practice

Knowshon Moreno has been out since the 2nd week of the season with a dislocated elbow

Miami Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno practiced on Monday, according to a report from the Sun-Sentinel.

Moreno has been sidelined since the second week of the season when he dislocated his elbow during a tackle. This would be a relatively quick recovery for the running back if he can make it back for Sunday's game. Earlier estimations had Moreno possibly missing a couple more weeks before being game ready.

When Moreno went down with his injury, he was at the top of his game and led all NFL running backs in rushing yards through one week. The loss of Moreno was felt immediately as Miami struggled to move the ball and relied heavily on the arm of Ryan Tannehill. Two losses followed the injury in Buffalo and against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Lamar Miller has stepped up well in Moreno's absence but the depth in Miami's running game continues to take a hit. With their top running option back in the fold, the Dolphins could drop Miller back to a reserve role and the ground attack should benefit as a whole.

Not only would Moreno's return improve the running game but it'd likely also have a positive effect on Tannehill. The quarterback had a big game in week four against Oakland but could face trouble soon against more potent teams. Having a reliable option at running back will open up the playbook for Tannehill.

The Dolphins will announce injury reports later this week which will clear up Moreno's status. If he can't make it back on Sunday, Miller would be expected to continue his role as the primary running back.

Miami takes on Green Bay on Sunday at 1:00 p.m at Sun Life Stadium.
