Practice makes perfect, unless you're practicing for a burglary with a loaded gun.
An elderly woman up in Brevard County learned that the hard way when her husband accidentally shot her while the two were conducting a "robbery drill," prepping in case someone broke into their home.
Patricia Morris, 72, took a round to the chest during the Sunday morning exercise, courtesy of 76-year-old husband Arnold's .380-caliber pistol.
Arnold called 911 to report the shooting.
"Don't go on me please," Arnold is heard telling his wife during the emergency call, as he tries to explain to the operator how the shooting happened. "I shot my wife in the chest, I didn't mean to."
"Oh honey, honey, don't ever do that," Patricia Arnold is heard telling her husband.
Patricia was flown to a nearby hospital for surgery. She's expected to make a full recovery, and no charges will be filed.
Apparently the couple, who've been married for 54 years, need a little more practice before handling live ammo.
“They were very unfamiliar with handguns. It was a pure accident,” Brevard County Sheriff's Office Lt. Linda Moros told floridatoday.com. “They are a very lucky family."
