Roxanne Vargas joined the NBC 6 News team in May 2007, but has been part of the NBC 6 family since 2003. Voted “Best TV Host” by the Miami New Times in 2012, Roxanne is the host of the NBC 6 lifestyle and entertainment show, “6 in the Mix” which airs weekdays at 11:30am. She also reports local and entertainment stories daily on the NBC 6 News at 5pm. Previously, Roxanne was the co-anchor of “Live Miami at 11” and a contributor to the NBC 6 News at 5am, 5:30am and 6am covering breaking and national news, features, entertainment, health and consumer news in that role.
Roxanne has also co-hosted several special programs on NBC 6, including the weekend edition of the Olympic Zone, Autocast 2007, Art in the Grove, the NBC 6 and Telemundo 51 Health & Fitness Expo and the Travel & Recreation Expo specials.
Among various distinctions, Roxanne received an Emmy nomination for her report and hosting of several features on NBC 6. She was honored with a community leadership award by the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida and currently serves on the board of the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida, as part of her commitment to the community. She has also served as Principal for a Day, worked with the National Kidney Foundation, the American Cancer Society and was crowned winner of “Dancing with the Stars of Broward,” a competition benefiting The Pantry of Broward.
A South Florida native, Roxanne earned her Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Florida International University. She enjoys going to the theater, movies, reading and spending time with her husband and golden retriever, Toby.
