Her dress style is more Katy Perry, but her voice is more Regina Spektor. Above all, Lenka's self-titled debut solo album is upbeat and refreshing. No depression here. She delivers fun pop with world music influences.
The hit first single, "The Show," is just the first of what is a solid record. "Skipalong," "Anything I'm Not," "Knock, Knock" and "Like A Song" are additional tracks you won't be able to get enough of.
You have actually probably heard Lenka before — you just didn't know it. She has one of those voices where you go, "Who is that?" because it's so distinctive. Her aforementioned single "The Show" has been featured in commercials for Old Navy and on ABC's "Ugly Betty."
Another track, "Live Like You're Dying" has been included in episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" on ABC and on the new "90210" on the CW.
The Australian born singer of Czechoslovakian heritage displays a natural spirit that comes across in her music. While I have not seen her in concert she is on tour now through March and I'm anxious to go to her show. You should be, too.
