A Miami man is behind bars after police say he attempted to commit massive credit card fraud – including nearly $28,000 in purchases at one mall.
Jose Rodriguez was arrested Wednesday and charged with over 40 counts, including nearly three dozen charges of credit card fraud along with trying to deposit over $8,500 of fraudulent checks into his bank account. The 25-year-old is being held on $45,000 bond in the cases.
According to Miami-Dade Police, Rodriguez used 20 different cards to make purchases at the Sacks Fifth Avenue store located at Dadeland Mall that totaled $27,785. He was detained while attempting to purchase nearly $2,000 worth of items this week.
Rodriguez was also charged in a case where he was able to deposit money at two separate Wells Fargo locations in Southwest Miami-Dade, with both incidents being caught on surveillance camera.
