Miami School Lockdown Lifted After Search in Area for Armed Carjacking Suspect

Miami Police placed a school on lockdown as they searched for an alleged armed carjacking suspect Wednesday morning.

Chopper 6 was over the scene near North Miami Avenue and 62nd Street, where an officer who was in route to another call noticed a possible carjacking taking place involving an armed individual who fled the scene to avoid arrest.

No injuries were reported.

Officials set up a perimeter on North Miami Avenue through North Miami Court between 60th and 62nd Streets with both SWAT and K9 units on scene and placed Toussaint Louverture Elementary School on lockdown as a precaution.

The lockdown was lifted around 1 p.m. but the suspect wasn't found.
