An elderly woman was in critical condition after she was shot inside her Northwest Miami-Dade home Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened at a home in the area of Northwest 32nd Avenue and 60th Street just before 4 a.m.

According to Miami-Dade Police, nine people were in the home when a suspect opened fire with a high-powered rifle, unloading several shots into the home.

Annie Wimberly, 69, was struck once in the forearm and once in the torso and rushed to Ryder Trauma Center where she was in critical but stable condition, police said. Five adults and three children who were also in the home were uninjured.

The suspect is still at large, police said.

Wimberly lived in the neighborhood for many years.

Many neighbors said they know Wimberly as a devoted churchgoer who spent a lot of time at the Friendly Temple Holiness church in Miami. She was also part of a singing group with her siblings called the Wimberly Sisters.
