Jury selection is scheduled to begin in Miami for the trial of an elderly Muslim cleric and a son accused of funneling tens of thousands of dollars to the Pakistani Taliban terror group.
The men claim the money they sent overseas was for purely innocent purposes. Hafiz Khan and one of his sons are charged with providing material support to terrorists by allegedly funneling about $50,000 to the Pakistani Taliban.
Mental Competency Exam Set for South Florida Imam in Terror Case
They have pleaded not guilty. Charges were dropped against another of Khan's sons.
Jury selection is set to begin Wednesday. The trial is expected to last more than a month.
