Authorities are investigating after a 17-year-old was found shot to death on a North Lauderdale street late Monday night.
The shooting happened in the area of Southwest 66th Avenue and 20th Street around 10 p.m., according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found the body of Abib Ali in the street, authorities said.
According to the BSO, Ali was in the neighborhood visiting a friend when he encountered the suspect and an altercation ensued.
The unidentified suspect shot Ali and fled the scene on a bicycle, the BSO said.
"I was laying in bed, I heard three gunshots and it was distinctly gunshots," said Marianne Sanzo, who lives in the area. "I just moved in here and so far I'm surprised, this is a pretty good neighborhood so far, I thought."
Authorities are investigating the shooting and looking for a gunman.
