Missing 1-Year-Old Girl Found Safe

Father not facing charges after girl reported to have been abducted by him

A 1-year-old girl who went missing with her father has been found safe and unharmed, Miami Police said Wednesday.

Amanda Kamora Alexander was reported missing Tuesday from the area of Northwest 19th Avenue and 48th Street after a domestic dispute between parents Alfred Lamant Alexander and Chalandra Jackson, police said.

Police said Alexander, 27, left with the toddler, setting off a massive police search that included officers distributing a "parental abduction" flyer.

Alexander had threatened to kill the child rather than return her, police said, and Jackson said her relatives had received text messages with similar threats.

"My biggest fear is all these text messages talking about how he going to kill me and her, and he also said that he was going to kill her before he brought her back to me," Jackson said.

But on Thursday, the girl was found safe and unharmed and was brought to the Miami Police headquarters by her paternal grandmother, who denied any abduction took place.

Police said the couple shared custody of the girl, and that Jackson had threatened to call police before during similar arguments.

No charges have been filed against Alexander, police said.
