The flight was from Fort Lauderdale headed to JFK

A JetBlue aircraft headed to New York from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport made a safe emergency landing in West Palm Beach on Thursday, officials said.

Aviation officials said the pilot reported a problem with the speed indicator, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

JetBlue Flight 18 left the Fort Lauderdale airport at 11:36 a.m., the Federal Aviation Administration said. An airport official said it began circling the Palm Beach International Airport after reporting the problem.

The aircraft landed safely and was being inspected by maintenance, JetBlue said in an email statement.

Passengers are expected to depart from the Palm Beach airport on another plane at 4:35 p.m.
