South Florida Man Facing 250 Counts of Child Pornography Possession

Hallandale Beach suspect lives across street from city's Peter Bluesten Park

A Hallandale Beach man is behind bars, held on 250 counts of child pornography. The accusations become even more disturbing when you consider where he lives.

26-year-old Kenwood Deveaux, a native of the Bahamas, lives right across the street from the city's Peter Bluesten Park, where he could have had access to children.

"I used to see him sitting down all the time with his computer he had a laptop," said neighbor Daniel Mendez, who saw Deveaux on his front porch.

That computer could have been among the belongings detectives confiscated from his home on SE 5th Street at SE 1st Avenue.

"When the cops were here, I saw them working on some videotapes," neighbor Christian Roldan said.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said it arrested Deveaux on the pornography charges Friday.

"He actually looked like a nice guy, you could never tell," Roldan added. "We have to be really looking after our kids on top of everything now."

On Monday no one answered the door of the home neighbors say Deveaux shares with family members.

"It's creepy we live down the street. There's a lot of kids going up and down the street, all day and there's like daycare after school right there," neighbor Jeremy Rossano said.

Deveaux remains in Broward County Jail, because he is being held on an immigration hold. Had he been eligible for bond, it would have been $1.25 million.

County records show he has no prior criminal history in Broward or Miami-Dade.
