President Barack Obama could be the most trusted man in American politics, according to a new poll.

The commander in chief outpaces individuals on both sides of the political spectrum with two-thirds of those who responded to a new survey saying they trust Obama "to identify the right solutions to the problems we face as a nation," according to a Public Strategies Inc./POLITICO poll of 1,000 registered voters.

Thirty-one percent of those polled who put their trust in the president said they trust him "a great deal" and 35 percent said they have "some" trust that Obama will be able to find the right economic fix, Politico reported.

An additional 31 percent said they trusted Obama either "not very much" or "not at all."

Obama's cred on the economy topped most individuals -- except for Microsoft chairman Bill Gates. Seventy-one percent said they trusted the president "as a source of information on the U.S. economy" but four in five voters said the same of Gates.

Geithner was found credible by 56 percent of respondents -- tying former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Those surveyed trusted Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin the least when it came to finding the proper solution to remedy the economy, narrowly beating Nancy Pelosi, 33 to 32 percent, respectively.

Forty percent of those polled said they trusted the GOP but the majority -- 54 percent -- said they did not.

Those surveyed were asked their opinions on Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Gov. Sarah Palin, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Rush Limbaugh and the two political parties.
