2 Arrested After DEA Agent Hit With Concrete Rock Outside Fort Lauderdale Restaurant

Two men were arrested after a DEA agent was hit in the head with a concrete rock at the Bokamper's Sports Bar and Grill in Fort Lauderdale.

Steven Jenrette, 22, and Gregory Bradley, 29 were arrested in the March 5 incident at Bokampers at 3115 Northeast 32nd Avenue, according to a arrest affidavit.

Jenrette, who faces two counts of aggravated battery, was ordered held on $75,000 bond during a court appearance Wednesday before Broward Judge John Hurley.

"I'm pretty sure Mr. Jenrette will be cooperative, he'll tell his side of the story whether the state believes him or not," his lawyer said. Bradley faces the same two charges and was released on bond.

According to the arrest affidavit, the DEA special agents had been in the restaurant and were leaving when Jenrette and Bradley started a confrontation and started yelling at them.

During the confrontation, one of the agents was hit with the concrete rock by Bradley, landing him in the hospital with a concussion, authorities said. Court records didn't list an attorney for Bradley.

Authorities said Jenrette took a fighting stance during the confrontation, and that his role was to distract the victims, the affidavit said.

At Wednesday's hearing, Jenrette's attorney said the agents never identified themselves as law enforcement officers and said Jenrette took up a fighting stance to protect himself.

Exactly what words were exchanged between both parties and other versions may be revealed in court and by other witnesses.

But authorities said one of the agents identified himself and took out his badge during the confrontation.

DEA officials confirmed that an agent was injured in the incident.

Bokamper's has no comment about the incident.
