Two people have been arrested in Miami-Dade after police say they kidnapped and forced a woman into prostitution.
Demetrick Cooks, 27, and Kimberly Agorilla, 26, were charged with human trafficking, kidnapping and deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution.
Cooks allegedly met his adult victim while she was dancing at Rachel Gentleman's Club in Orlando. Police said not long after, Cooks was her pimp and demanded that she become a prostitute, imposing a daily quota of $1,000 dollars.
In court, a judge said the victim "was beaten on several occasions when she failed to meet the quota."
Meanwhile, Agorilla would coach the victim, who in one month brought in $37,000.
Cooks and Agorilla were caught Wednesday outside a Comfort Inn near the Miami International Airport when the victim texted her mother her whereabouts and her mother called police. After a month of being held captive, the victim was released.
It's not the first time Cooks has been arrested on prostitution charges. In Texas in 2012, he was charged with the same charges after four victims came forward. In that case, two others were also arrested.
Cooks also has a criminal history in Miami that includes battery on a law enforcement officer. Agorilla also has several prostitution convictions across the state.
