2 Hospitalized After Carbon Monoxide Exposure From Grill Following Hialeah Super Bowl Party

What to Know

  • Officials said the unit’s owners were using a charcoal grill and brought it back inside afterward, at which point the gas spread.

Residents in a Hialeah apartment complex were forced to evacuate early Monday morning after fears over a potential carbon monoxide leak caused by a grill brought inside a home after a Super Bowl party.

Police and fire rescue crews arrived at the complex located at 1275 West 35th Street around 5 a.m. after reports of the leak.

Officials said the unit’s owners were using a charcoal grill Sunday night and brought it back inside afterward, at which point the gas began to spread inside that unit and into others.

Two people were taken to an area hospital, but their conditions have not been released at this time.
