Man Who Stabbed Woman Killed in Police-Involved Shooting in Miami: Chief

A man was killed in a police-involved shooting after he stabbed and critically injured a woman in Miami Tuesday morning, officials said.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call in the area of Southwest 37th Avenue and 4th Street shortly before 10 a.m., where Miami Police confirmed a woman was stabbed and taken to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition as a result.

One of the officers who responded shot the suspect, who was also hospitalized and later died, Miami Police Chief Jorge Colina said.

Colina said a weapon was recovered at the scene. The identities of the man and woman weren't released.

The police-involved shooting will be investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Colina said.

No other information was immediately known.
