2-Year-Old Central Florida Boy Drowns

Authorities say a 2-year-old boy died a day after being pulled from a backyard swimming pool at his central Florida home.
 
Edgewater police Capt. Joe Mahoney told The Daytona Beach News-Journal that Carter Cushman was pulled from the pool by his father, Matthew Cushman on Monday afternoon. The father began CPR and paramedics took over.
 
The child was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where he died Tuesday.
 
Police say the father was caring for the boy, when he slipped out of the house and entered the pool. They say preliminary findings show the father wasn't neglectful, but an investigation continues.
