4 Arrested in Gangland Style Murder

Kevin Walden was found by his family outside an apartment complex

Four Broward men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old found shot in the head in his car outside an apartment complex.

Cedric Demond Odoms, 33, was allegedly the hired hit man who pulled the trigger in October that left Kelvin Walden slumped over in a car outside the Crystal Lakes apartments.

Broward Sheriff's detectives claim 20-year-old Vincent Hawthorne ordered the punishment for Walden, who was his partner in a check-cashing scheme. Hawthorne believed Walden took more than his negotiated cut of the scam and called on Odoms and two other men to rob Walden.

The men lured Walden to the apartment complex and then robbed him, but Odoms took it a step further and put a bullet in the man's head. Walden's family found him the next day.

When detectives caught up with Odoms on Friday, he threatened to have a shoot out with the SWAT team that surrounded his house. He eventually tried to run, but was taken down without any gunfire.

Odoms and Hawthorne face murder charges, while William Lamar Sanctious, 26, and Dontavious Brandon Smith, 22, are charged with armed robbery.
