5-Year-Old Girl Dies Day After Crash on I-95 in Deerfield Beach

A 5-year-old girl has died a day after she was in a car crash on Interstate 95 that also killed her 2-year-old sister, her family said.

In a Facebook post Monday night, Annette Bennet said her daughter, Keanna, "fought a good fight this past 24 hours. She gain her precious little wings ... Thanks for all your prayers but it is DONE."

Florida Highway Patrol officials said Keanna and her sister, Akeena, were not wearing restraint devices Sunday morning when the Toyota Corolla they were in crashed into a Kia Forte north of Sample Road in Deerfield Beach.

Akeena died shortly after. Keanna was hospitalized with critical injuries and was put on life support.

The driver of the Corolla, the girls' godmother Raby Rashida, 34, also suffered serious injuries, according to an FHP report.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office Department of Fire Rescue said firefighters arrived on scene to find two vehicles extensively damaged – one of which appeared to have struck a barrier wall.

Police said the other vehicle was occupied by a 26-year-old male driver who is listed in serious condition at Broward Health North.
