It’s Friday, June 28 – and NBC 6 has the top stories you need to know for your day.

No. 1 – If you were hoping for a dry weekend across South Florida, you are out of luck as rain chances increase by Friday evening and continue into the weekend. Keep your NBC 6 app handy for First Alert Doppler 6000 and push alerts should the weather get rough across the area.

No. 2 - On the final night of the Democratic presidential primary debates, there were sharp exchanges over busing and segregation, a frank admission of failure on racial tensions and an attempt to open a generational divide between the frontrunners and the others.

Ten candidates again faced the challenge of standing out among the crowd at Thursday's debate in Miami, sponsored by NBC News, MSNBC and Telemundo.

No. 3 - As a national furor unfolded over the harsh conditions immigrant children are being subjected to in the U.S., nearly a dozen White House hopefuls who transformed the nation's largest child migrant detention center in Homestead into a must-stop destination on the campaign trail.

With presidential debates Wednesday and Thursday in nearby Miami, candidates were eager to visit to turn the facility into a symbol of the Trump administration's harsh treatment of young migrants.

No. 4 - A teenager found himself behind bars after disturbing allegations that he sexually assaulted a teen girl after allegedly drugging her up at a Miramar home earlier this week then posting video of the incident online.

Police charged 18-year-old Jorge Martinez with several counts, including sexual assault of a minor and obscene communication. He was being held on $550,000 bond Thursday

No. 5 - With a smirk and a finger point, President Donald Trump dryly told Russia's Vladimir Putin "Don't meddle with the election" in their first meeting since the special counsel concluded that Russia extensively interfered with the 2016 campaign.

The tone of the president's comment, which came after a reporter asked if he would warn Putin, was immediately open to interpretation. But it would seem to do little to silence questions about Trump's relationship with Russia in the aftermath of special counsel Robert Mueller's conclusion.

No. 6 - Car rental companies often charge a fee for younger or older drivers. One man says he knew this and made sure he booked a car for his elderly family member with a company that didn’t have a so-called senior surcharge.

But when the charge was added anyway, he reached out to NBC 6 Responds. Click here to see the story and how we were able to help him get results.
