The baby born to a woman who was fatally shot in her car has died, Miami Gardens Police said on Friday.
Qualecia James, 21, was seven-months pregnant when she was struck by a bullet from a vehicle that pulled up alongside her car and opened fire, according to police.
Police said they responded to a call at 2:09 p.m.on Sunday in the area of N.W. 182nd Street and N.W. 32nd Avenue and found a 4-door sedan riddled with bullets parked at 18131 N.W. 32nd Ave.
James was airlifted to Jackson Ryder Trauma center in extremely critical condition and later died from her injuries.
Witnesses said the victim’s vehicle was traveling northbound on N.W. 32nd Avenue where an unknown type of vehicle pulled up alongside them and fired multiple rounds into their vehicle, according to police.
