Family of Woman Killed in Boating Crash Arrives in S. Fla From Colombia

After overcoming many obstacles in terms of getting emergency visas to the United States, Jennifer Muñoz’s brothers made it to South Florida.

The Muñoz brothers had been planning a first-time trip to the U.S. for Jennifer's birthday in May. But the trip was made abruptly sooner than scheduled when the 28-year-old woman was killed in a boating accident near Government Cut last weekend.

The three brothers arrived from Bogotá, Colombia to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Saturday. They were met with a hug from their father, who arrived earlier in the week, and their brother-in-law, now a widower.

Jennifer was one of the three people who died in the crash involving four people. The boat hit a jetty near South Beach, leaving one sole survivor. Troy Fort, 37, has asked for privacy while he recovers.

Jennifer’s oldest brother, Jason Muñoz, says they came to provide emotional support for their loved ones while they prepare Jennifer ‘s funeral arrangements, set to take place this week.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is still investigating the cause of the accident.
