Cat Found With Dart Impaled in Head in Palmetto Bay

Palmetto Bay police are investigating a case of possible animal cruelty after a cat was found with a dart impaled in its head.

A Good Samaritan transported the injured cat to Miami-Dade County Animal Services Thursday evening, where veterinarians removed the dart from the area between the cat’s eyes.

Officials say evidence was collected and turned over to the police department. Animal Services is now working closely with police to assist in the investigation.

An Animal Services spokesperson says the cat is now recovering in foster care and is doing well.

A similar incident occurred last April in Miami Beach when a popular stray cat named “Strushie” was shot with a crossbow. The cat was taken to the vet and euthanized because the injuries were too severe.
