Central Florida Man Admits to Police He Buried Body of Friend in Backyard of Home

A man is admitting to making what he called a “bad decision” after burying a friend in the backyard of his Central Florida home after an apparent drug overdose.

In an interview with NBC affiliate WESH-TV, Greg Palermo said he told officers and detectives that he buried the body on his property in an Orlando neighborhood because he was scared because he had previously been arrested on a drug charge.

“He jokingly said that morning while we were fishing that he wouldn’t mind being buried in my backyard because it’s so pretty," Palermo said, adding he attempted to perform CPR on the victim for 20 minutes before deciding to bury the body.

Palermo said investigators searched his property this weekend after obtaining a warrant to search the home for drugs – which is when he told them about the body.

“They came here because they thought I was a manufacturer of meth and I don't do that,” Palermo said.

Palermo said he has not been arrested for the incident. Orange County Sheriff’s investigators did not confirm that with the station.
